Geisha Girl Porcelain Jewelry
Geisha Girl Porcelain is a Japanese export ware whose production commenced the last quarter of the 19th century. Made in the form of the common dining and household utensils of the times, they featured lovely kimono clad ladies, sometimes with men and children, in scenes from pre-modern Japan.
Over two hundred Geisha Girl scenes (called patterns) and variations thereof have been cataloged. While all the major patterns have been accounted for, new variations periodically come to light. Although the bulk of Geisha ware production ceased during World War II, they have remained so popular that some of the patterns are still in production today.
The technique for creating most Geisha Girl Jewelry is simple. The outline of a shard of china is wrapped in copper foiling and 0.925 sterling silver is used to create the setting, improving the look and the quality of Geisha Girl Porcelain Jewelry.
All Geisha Girl Porcelain Jewelry sold by The Cameleer is made from the owner's personal collection.
